22 stories is 1 today and I wrote a blog to celebrate!

A year ago, I flew the nest of the successful marketing agency I had co-developed and took flight on my own exciting journey, as a small business storyteller.

I was determined to bring together everything I had learned from the past 20+ years working with corporate brands and make it accessible to small businesses. But I could never have predicted just where that would take me. In helping others find their voice over the last 12 months, I discovered my own.

Not the slick, bullshit one I used in corporateville (and couldn’t wait to silence) or the one that for years told me I wasn’t good enough, but one that was able to articulate all the thoughts I’ve had in my head for the last few years.

Being able to speak freely about my passions, my successes, and a few failures along the way, has not only helped me develop a healthy business, but has a enabled me to grow a fab community of likeminded, smart women (you all know who you are) who, not only excite me with their own creativity but, also reassure me of my own.

Embracing the good (and bad) times

I won’t lie and say it’s all been easy. There have been times when I’ve wanted to pack it all in and retreat back to a more familiar space. I’ve worked long, lonely hours and got nothing in return. But showing up every day, shouting from the rooftops about what I do, proving my value with wonderful of clients, has paid off. It’s definitely true that you get back what you put in. And right now, I’m getting it in bucket loads, something which I am truly grateful for.

22 stories is the result of years and years of feeling like I don’t quite fit in; a square peg in a round hole perhaps and sheer stubbornness not to settle for anything less than right. Now I feel I’ve found my place in life. Helping others discover their voice and tell their unique, fascinating stories energises me beyond belief, especially when i can see their businesses grow as a result. I literally cannot wait to see what the next 12 months bring!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way, there is so much more to come and I hope you stay with me for the ride! Wine at the ready!!!
